Replacement Windows In Concord
Concord is New Hampshire’s capital, a city built on both banks of the Merrimack River. Downtown sits on a low terrace on the west side of the water. Our shop at 779 Lafayette Road in Seabrook is about 69 minutes and 54.9 miles away. The Window Source NH is a family-owned replacement window and door company. Our own local crew measures, orders and installs every window we sell.
A City Of Villages, Hills And River Terraces
Europeans first settled the area in 1659, and the town was incorporated as Rumford in 1734. It took the name Concord in 1765, after a boundary dispute with Bow was settled. Some of the city’s earliest houses, from the 1700s, still stand at the northern end of Main Street.
The 19th century brought furniture-making, printing and granite quarrying. Concord granite went into the State House, finished in 1819. Abbot and Downing built the famous Concord coach here, and Penacook grew into a textile center powered by the Contoocook River.
Housing now spreads well beyond downtown and its North End and South End. Neighborhoods climb the hills to the west and reach south toward Bow. East of the river, Concord Heights sits on a flat, sandy plain above a bluff. Then come the villages of Penacook, East Concord and West Concord, each distinct from the others.
What That Means For Your Windows
A house near the old end of Main Street and a newer home out on the western hills ask for different things. In an older house, the goal is often to stop the drafts without losing the look. That can mean a traditional sash profile and grids that match the era of the house.
In a newer home, the story is usually simpler. Builder-grade windows fog between the panes, stick in their tracks or let cold air in around the sash. Replacing them with a tighter, better-insulated window is the fix.
Either way, we start by measuring every opening in person. Windows are then ordered to those measurements, so they fit the house you actually have.
Windows We Recommend For Concord Homes
Most people start with our best seller, the Harvey Classic, from $617 installed. It has fusion-welded frames, double-strength glass and a .24 U-value. It suits nearly any room, from a bedroom downtown to a family room in Penacook.
For an older house where character counts, look at the Harvey Tribute, from $683 installed. Its contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches give a traditional look. Add colonial grids and it keeps the house looking right from the street.
If warmth is the top priority, compare two triple-pane windows. The Harvey Homerun, from $699 installed, is our best value: a custom-built Harvey with a .18 U-value, the most efficient window we sell. The Gentek Series 9000, from $683 installed, has a .22 U-value and is rated Energy Star Most Efficient.
All of these prices are for a white double hung with basic installation. Grids and colors add. You can compare every model on our double hung windows page. Harvey Windows + Doors is a New England manufacturer based in Waltham, Massachusetts, and our Harvey windows page has more on the brand.
We also replace entry doors, including Harvey fiberglass, with Therma-Tru on request. For a room that needs more light, ask about bay and bow windows.
