What is a sliding patio door?
Sliding patio doors, also known as gliding doors and sliding glass doors, are found in almost every home. They have a similar appearance but operate differently than a French door, which swings in or outward. The operating glass panel of a sliding patio door glides on rollers on a track in the sill. This design provides great ventilation with the operating panel stored completely and safely out of the way when in the open position.

Which sliding patio doors do we offer at The Window Source?
We install vinyl gliding doors from two manufacturers we trust: Harvey, built right here in New England with welded sash corners and multi-chambered frames reinforced with heavy-duty aluminum, and Gentek, the maker of our Series 3000 and 9000 double hung windows, with multi-chambered vinyl frames and steel-reinforced panels. Both come in double- and triple-panel models with code-compliant tempered safety glass in every pane.
Nearly every door we install goes out with the 5-inch bottom rail and a foot lock: a sturdier panel and a second locking point at the floor. Grids are optional, and most customers skip them for a cleaner view.
Why do panes and insulation matter?
