Replacement Windows In Methuen
Methuen sits on the New Hampshire line, with Salem to the north and Pelham to the northwest. It is about 31 minutes and 23.7 miles from our shop at 779 Lafayette Road in Seabrook. We are The Window Source NH, a family-owned window and door company. We measure, order and install every window with our own local crew.
Spicket River Mills And The Families Who Built Methuen
Methuen was first settled in 1642 as part of Haverhill and incorporated in 1726. Industry shaped the town in the 1800s. The Methuen Cotton Mills went up at the Spicket River falls in the 1820s. Small hat and shoe factories followed along the river.
That work drew the town’s life toward Osgood, Broadway, Hampshire and Pleasant streets. Three families, the Nevins, the Tenneys and the Searles, shaped what came next. Their legacy includes mills, housing, mansions, churches, the Nevins Memorial Library and the Tenney Gatehouse.
Replacing Windows In And Around The Historic District
The city set up the Searles Tenney Nevins Historic District in 1992. Inside it are the Spicket Falls and Pleasant-High historic districts, both on the National Register of Historic Places. The Methuen Historic District Commission sets rules on materials, size and proportions, and colors for properties there.
If your home is in the district, talk with the commission before you pick new windows. We can bring options that respect an older house, like the Harvey Tribute with its contoured sash or colonial grids that match the period.
Outside the district, the choice is simply yours. A house near Forest Lake or the town forest may call for bigger glass. One close to the Merrimack or the Spicket may need tighter seals against the cold.
Methuen lies along the northern bank of the Merrimack and is cut in two by the Spicket River. Tenney State Park, a town forest and a bird sanctuary add open space across the city.
Whatever the setting, the steps are the same. We measure each opening in your home, order to those measurements and install with our own crew. You get one company and one point of contact from start to finish.
