Replacement Windows In Nashua
Nashua is known as the Gate City, for its place on the route between the Boston region and New Hampshire. It sits right on the Massachusetts border, where the Nashua River meets the Merrimack. The Window Source NH is a family-owned replacement window and door company. Our shop at 779 Lafayette Road in Seabrook is about 61 minutes and 41.7 miles from Nashua.
From Dunstable To French Hill
The city began as part of Dunstable, a fur trading town first settled around 1654. When the state line was fixed in 1741, the town was divided in two. The New Hampshire half took the name Nashua in 1836, after the river.
Mills came first. The Nashua Manufacturing Company was incorporated in 1823, and six railroad lines eventually crossed the town. In 1842 the town split for a time, and the northern part, now French Hill, called itself Nashville. The two halves rejoined as a city eleven years later.
The last mill near Nashua closed in 1949. Then Sanders Associates moved into an empty mill, and Digital Equipment arrived in the 1970s. Nashua became part of the Boston-area high-tech corridor. So a Nashua house might date from the mill years or from any of the decades of growth since.
Built For Hot Summers And Cold Winters
Nashua has long, humid summers that can turn very hot, and cold winters. Its heaviest snow usually comes from nor’easters. A window here has to work hard in both seasons.
That is where U-value helps. It measures how much heat passes through a window, and lower is better. A low number keeps winter heat inside and helps hold summer heat out. That holds whether your house is near the Nashua River, along Salmon Brook or up by Pennichuck Brook.
