Replacement Windows In Lawrence
Lawrence grew up on both banks of the Merrimack River, and it is about 31 minutes and 23.8 miles from our shop in Seabrook. The Window Source NH is a family-owned replacement window and door company. Our own local crew measures, orders and installs every window, so you deal with one company from the first visit to the finished job.
A City Shaped By The River And The Mills
Lawrence was a great wool-processing center until that industry declined in the 1950s. The Great Stone Dam spans the whole Merrimack. When it was built in the 1840s, it was the largest dam in the world. It fed two power canals that ran the mills, one on each bank. The Spicket River flows in from Methuen, and the Shawsheen forms the southeastern border.
The city’s population reached 94,270 in 1920. Lawrence earned the nickname “Immigrant City” as one community after another made its home there. Most industry sat on the flatlands along the rivers. Away from the water, the city rises to Tower Hill in the northwest, Prospect Hill in the northeast and Mount Vernon to the south.
What Older City Homes Need From A Window
If your home is many decades old, its windows may have been painted, patched and reglazed more than once. Sash can stick, weights can fail, and cold air leaks around the frame. New windows fix those problems at the source.
City living brings its own needs, too. A window that opens and tilts in for cleaning saves trips outside on a ladder. Good glass also cuts down on street noise and keeps rooms closer to the temperature you set. On a multi-family house, those gains repeat in every unit.
Before we order anything, we measure every opening in your home. Your windows are then ordered to those numbers, which matters in an older house where no two openings may match.
