Replacement Windows In Swampscott
Swampscott is a seaside town on Massachusetts Bay, about 50 minutes and 35.8 miles from our shop at 779 Lafayette Road in Seabrook. We are The Window Source NH, a family-owned replacement window and door company. Our own local crew makes that drive for every measure and every install.
A Resort Town On A Rocky Shore
More than half of Swampscott’s total area is water. The town lies along a mostly rocky shoreline with room for five beaches, from Phillips Beach to its share of King’s Beach. Early in the 20th century it was an important destination for the wealthy and a de facto first resort town.
Swampscott began as the eastern part of Lynn and was incorporated on its own in 1852. Today it is a residential community with three villages: Beach Bluff to the east, Phillips Point to the south and Phillips Beach between them. Older history is close at hand. The John Humphreys House dates from the 1700s, and the Olmsted Subdivision Historic District runs along Monument Avenue. Monument Square, the center of town, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
Windows For Homes Facing The Water
Wind and salt air off the bay are hard on old windows. Worn weatherstripping and loose sash let winter straight in. If you live near the shore, the glass and the seal you choose really count.
For a house that takes the weather head on, a triple-pane window is worth a look. The Harvey Homerun, from $699 installed, is our best value: a custom-built Harvey with triple-pane glass and a .18 U-value. The Gentek Series 9000, from $683 installed, is triple pane with a .22 U-value and Energy Star Most Efficient.
If the view is the point, the Harvey Slimline from $545 installed uses a slim welded frame for more glass. For a house with traditional lines, the Harvey Tribute from $683 installed has contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches. Bay and bow windows are another way to bring more of the water indoors. If an older house has round-top or other unusual openings, we also install architectural and shaped windows.
Prices are for a white double hung with basic installation. Grids and colors add. Harvey Windows + Doors is a New England manufacturer based in Waltham; learn more on our Harvey windows in Massachusetts page.
Doors take the same weather. We install entry doors in Harvey fiberglass, with Therma-Tru on request, and sliding patio doors from Harvey and Gentek. A tight patio door makes a real difference in a room that opens toward the water.
