Replacement Windows In Marblehead
Marblehead is a rocky peninsula reaching into Massachusetts Bay, with Marblehead Neck tied to the mainland by a causeway. More than three quarters of the town’s area is water. It is about 51 minutes and 34 miles from our shop in Seabrook, NH. Our own crew makes that drive for window and door work here.
Old Town, Clifton And The Neck
Besides the town center, Marblehead takes in the Old Town to the northeast, Clifton to the southwest by Swampscott, and Marblehead Neck. Most of the residential land is densely settled. The deep, sheltered harbor sits between the mainland and the Neck.
Much of the Old Town is protected by the Marblehead Historic District. The town still has buildings like the Ambrose Gale House (1663), the King Hooper Mansion (1728) and the Jeremiah Lee Mansion (1768). If your home is in the district, ask the town what review applies before you order windows. We can show you options with a traditional sash and grids. Fort Sewall dates to 1644 and Old Burial Hill to 1638, so the building history here runs deep.
Windows For Wind And Salt Air
On a peninsula, many houses take wind straight off the water. If yours faces the harbor, Devereux Beach or the open bay, efficiency matters. So does the view you bought the house for.
Every price below is installed, for a white double hung with basic installation. Grids and colors add to the cost.
- Harvey Homerun, from $699 installed. Our best value: custom-built, with triple-pane glass and a .18 U-value. It is the most efficient window we sell.
- Gentek Series 9000, from $683 installed. Triple pane, a .22 U-value and an Energy Star Most Efficient rating.
- Harvey Tribute, from $683 installed. Contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches for a traditional look, with a .25 U-value.
- Harvey Slimline, from $545 installed. A slim welded frame for more glass and a wider look at the water, with a .29 U-value.
Harvey Windows + Doors is a New England manufacturer based in Waltham, Massachusetts. See our page on Harvey windows in Massachusetts. A bay or bow window can open a room toward the water. Colonial grids help any window match an older house.
How do you choose between the two triple-pane windows? The Homerun is a custom-built Harvey with the lowest U-value we offer. The Series 9000 carries the Energy Star Most Efficient label and starts a little lower. For an Old Town house where looks come first, the Tribute keeps a traditional sash.
Some rooms suit a different style altogether. Casement and awning windows crank open, which helps over a sink or counter. Sliding windows work well in wide, short openings.
