Replacement Windows In Lynn
Lynn is the largest city in Essex County, and it sits right on the Atlantic, a few miles north of Boston. Its homes run from the seaside Diamond Historic District to the streets around Lynn Woods and High Rock. The Window Source NH replaces windows and doors throughout the city. Our shop in Seabrook is about 48 minutes and 34.8 miles away.
Boots, Beach Cottages And A Big City
Settled in 1629, Lynn is the fifth oldest colonial settlement in the Commonwealth. Shoe-making began here in 1635, and the boots worn by Continental Army soldiers were made in Lynn. That trade drove the city’s growth into the early nineteenth century.
By the middle of the 1800s, estates and beach cottages were going up along the shore, and Lynn became a fashionable summer resort. Many of them now sit within the Diamond Historic District. Later, shoe manufacturers invested in the early electric industry, and one of the two original General Electric plants was built here.
Between 1885 and 1915, the number of immigrants living in Lynn rose from 9,800 to 29,500. Today the city is still known for its immigrant population and its historic architecture.
Lynn also has a lot of green. The 2,200-acre Lynn Woods Reservation was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and High Rock Reservation by his sons. The Lynn Shore Reservation sits right on the ocean.
What Lynn Homes Need From New Windows
A city of more than 100,000 people has houses of every age and size. Near the shore, a house takes wind off the ocean, and efficient glass earns its keep. Farther inland, most owners want comfort and a fair price.
With the woods or the ocean out back, a bigger view may matter most. The Harvey Slimline, from $545 installed, has a slim welded frame for more glass.
If your home is older or sits in a historic district, the profile of the window matters. Colonial grids and a traditional sash help keep the look. Lynn’s building department can tell you whether a permit is needed before work starts.
