Replacement Windows In Hamilton
Hamilton began as “The Hamlet,” a farming section of Ipswich, and it still has the horse farms and open land to prove it. We are The Window Source NH, a family-owned window and door company. Our Seabrook shop is about 39 minutes and 23.6 miles from Hamilton. Our own local crew installs every window we sell.
From The Hamlet To Today: Hamilton Homes
Matthew Whipple’s farm was the first recorded land grant here, in 1638. Three years later the stagecoach road from Boston to Newburyport, Bay Road, was laid out through his land. The Appletons, Winthrops, Lamsons and Dodges followed, drawn by country that looked like the English farms they had left.
The town incorporated in 1793 and took Alexander Hamilton’s name. When the railroad came in 1839, the center of town slowly moved south toward the depot. Later, the Myopia Hunt Club arrived on the Gibney Farm, and its members built large summer estates in the area. Myopia also donated the site of Patton Park, still the center of activity downtown. The Community House, built in 1921 for Hamilton and Wenham, was designed by the Boston architect Guy Lowell.
So Hamilton’s houses cover a long stretch of time. There are old farmsteads near Bay Road, estate homes around Myopia, and the village by the depot. The town has no industrially zoned land at all. It sits about 5 miles inland from Massachusetts Bay, between the Ipswich River and Chebacco Lake.
A house that looks across open pasture takes more wind than one tucked into a street of neighbors. An estate or farmhouse with a traditional face needs windows that keep it. Both point toward a few specific choices.
Choosing Windows For A Hamilton House
The prices below are installed, for a white double hung with basic installation. Grids and colors add to the price.
- Harvey Classic from $617: our best seller. A .24 U-value, fusion-welded frames and double-strength glass make it a solid fit for most homes in town.
- Harvey Tribute from $683: its contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches keep the traditional look of an older home, with a .25 U-value.
- Gentek Series 9000 from $683: triple pane, a .22 U-value, and Energy Star Most Efficient. A strong pick for a house facing open, windy ground.
- Harvey Homerun from $699: our best value, a custom-built Harvey with triple-pane glass and a .18 U-value.
Harvey Windows + Doors is a New England manufacturer based in Waltham. Our Harvey windows in Massachusetts page covers the full line. If you want a wide view of a field or paddock, ask about bay and bow windows too. If the project includes an entry, we install Harvey fiberglass front doors, with Therma-Tru on request.
