Replacement Windows In West Newbury
West Newbury is a town of hills and orchards on the south bank of the Merrimack River. Our shop at 779 Lafayette Road in Seabrook is about 16 minutes and 10.9 miles away. We are The Window Source NH, a family-owned replacement window and door company. Every window we sell is measured, ordered and installed by our own local crew.
Hill Farms, Comb Shops And Old Homes
West Newbury was part of Newbury until 1819, when it became the town of Parsons. A year later the name changed to West Newbury. It began as a farming town, and Long Hill Orchard has been working its land since 1896.
In the 1800s the town was known for comb making. Small home comb shops gave way to factories, and the last one, S.C. Noyes on Main Street, closed in 1904. The Hills House, built in 1780, still stands as a museum with a cobbler’s shop on the grounds. Its collection includes horn combs and hair adornments made right here in town.
Residents have long worked to keep the town rural. Pipestave Hill, Archelaus Hill, Long Hill and Indian Hill rise over open land, and the Artichoke River runs along the Newburyport line. A house on a hilltop or above the river takes the wind. An old farmhouse needs windows that look the part. The Riverbend and Mill Pond recreation areas lie in the north of town. Part of the Crane Pond Wildlife Management Area covers the southern corner.
