Replacement Windows In Lynnfield
Lynnfield grew from two villages under one town government: Lynnfield Center and South Lynnfield. The Window Source NH replaces windows and doors in both. From our shop in Seabrook, the drive is about 42 minutes and 29.1 miles. Every window is measured, ordered and installed by our own local crew.
From Farm Village To Route 1 Suburb
Lynnfield was first settled in 1638 and incorporated in 1814. For a long time, Lynnfield Center was mostly agricultural, while South Lynnfield was a crossroads between larger towns. The old Newburyport Turnpike, later U.S. Route 1, ran through South Lynnfield. After World War II, that road brought many new people to town.
The town once had two inns, a granite quarry and a small soda bottler. Lynnfield Center kept commuter rail service into the late 1950s or early 1960s, with a platform near today’s Town Hall offices.
Today Lynnfield is chiefly residential, a suburb of Boston with the Ipswich River along its northern border. Suntaug Lake, Pillings Pond and Reedy Meadow lie within the town. So does part of the Lynn Woods Reservation, and Middleton Hill rises in the north.
Matching Windows To Lynnfield Homes
A town that grew in stages can hold homes from several eras, and each asks something different of a window. If your house dates from the farming years, its character is worth keeping. The Harvey Tribute, with contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches, keeps a traditional look.
If your house went up during the postwar growth, its original windows may be long past their best. Drafts, foggy glass and sash that will not stay up are common signs. A well-built replacement solves all three.
In every case the goal is the same: windows that seal well, open easily and look right on the house. A room that looks out on a pond or the woods may also call for more glass and a slimmer frame.
