For most New England houses, the Harvey Classic at $617 installed is the double hung to buy. It is our best seller, with a .24 U-value, fusion-welded frames and double-strength glass. Choose the Slimline to stretch a budget and the Tribute when an older home needs the right look. Choose the Homerun when you want the warmest window we sell.
All four are built by Harvey Windows + Doors, a New England manufacturer based in Waltham, Massachusetts. Our own local crew measures, orders and installs every one, and each carries our transferable Lifetime Warranty. Prices are for a white double hung with basic installation. Grids and colors add cost.
The Four Harvey Double Hungs Side By Side
| Model | Installed From | U-Value | Glass | Frame And Look |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Harvey Slimline | $545 | .29 | More glass area from a slimmer frame | Slim, fully welded frame and sash; white or almond vinyl |
| Harvey Classic, our best seller | $617 | .24 | Double-strength glass | Fusion-welded frame; flat sash edges for a clean, modern line |
| Harvey Tribute | $683 | .25 | Dual pane | Fusion welded and foam filled; contoured, beveled sash; hidden tilt latches |
| Harvey Homerun, our best value | $699 | .18 | Triple pane | Custom-built by Harvey; the most efficient window we sell |
U-value is the number to watch in a cold climate. The National Fenestration Rating Council, which rates windows independently, says the lower the number, the better a window keeps heat in. ENERGY STAR says that in the North you are generally looking for a U-factor of 0.22 or lower. Of these four, only the Homerun clears that bar.
Every double hung we install has both sashes tilting in for cleaning, so you can wash the outside glass from inside the house.
Which Harvey Fits Which House
Harvey Slimline: The Budget Pick With The Most Glass
The Slimline is our lowest-priced window, from $545 installed. Harvey describes a slim, fully welded sash and frame that minimizes bulk and maximizes your view, with a larger glass area for more daylight. It comes in white or almond vinyl, with 5/8-inch grids between the glass or no grids at all. Harvey fits it with low-profile sweep locks and block-and-tackle balances it says never need adjustment or lubrication.
The trade-off is warmth. At .29, it has the highest U-value of the four. It makes sense for a rental, a house you plan to sell soon, or a room with a view. If you plan to stay ten winters, stepping up to the Classic at $617 is usually money well spent.
Harvey Classic: The Right Answer For Most Houses
The Classic is the window we install most, and Harvey itself calls it the workhorse of its line. You get a .24 U-value, fusion-welded frames and double-strength glass for $617. Its flat sash edges give a clean, contemporary look that suits ranches, splits and most newer colonials.
It also comes in a wide range of finishes. Harvey offers white or almond vinyl, six exterior paint colors and a black laminate finish. Grids come in 5/8-inch or 1-inch widths, between the glass or as simulated divided lites. Note that the Classic edges out the pricier Tribute on U-value, .24 against .25.
Harvey Tribute: For Older Homes Where The Look Matters
The Tribute is about appearance. Harvey gives it a contoured sash with beveled edges to copy the look of a traditional wood window. Its dual-action lock does double duty: it unlatches the window and lets the sash tilt in, so there are no exposed tilt latches. The result is a cleaner sash line, which matters on a cape, a farmhouse or an antique colonial.
It is dual pane, fusion welded and foam filled, with a .25 U-value, at $683. Harvey offers it in white vinyl with exterior paint colors or black laminate, plus lock finishes such as brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze. Be clear about what you are paying for. The extra over the Classic at $617 buys looks, not efficiency.
Harvey Homerun: The Warmest Window We Sell
The Homerun is a custom-built Harvey with triple-pane glass and a .18 U-value. It is the most efficient window we sell, and we call it our best value. It is priced from $699 installed. That sits just above the Tribute at $683 and not far past the Classic at $617.
Choose it for rooms that run cold, north-facing walls or a home you plan to stay in for a long time. Our guide to double pane vs triple pane windows covers when that third pane pays off.
Where The Two Gentek Models Fit
We also install two Gentek double hungs, and they sit among the Harveys on price. The Gentek Series 3000 runs $587 installed, with a foam-insulated frame, double-strength glass and a .28 U-value. It lands between the Slimline and the Classic on both price and warmth.
The Gentek Series 9000 runs $683 installed. It has triple-pane glass, a .22 U-value and an ENERGY STAR Most Efficient rating. If you have settled on triple pane, compare it with the Homerun. For a little more, the Homerun at $699 gets you to .18. You can see the full lineup on our double hung windows page.
How To Choose Room By Room
You do not have to put one model in every opening. Plenty of houses are best served by a mix:
- Front of the house, older home: the Tribute, where the street sees the sash shape.
- Bedrooms and rooms you sit in: the Classic, or the Homerun if those rooms run cold.
- North-facing walls and drafty corners: the Homerun, for its .18 U-value.
- Back rooms, basement stairways and rentals: the Slimline, where price matters most.
- A view you want to frame: the Slimline, for its larger glass area.
If you mix Tributes and Classics, look at both sashes side by side first, because the profiles differ. Not sure a double hung is the right style for every opening? See our window styles comparison.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Harvey double hung is the most energy efficient?
The Harvey Homerun, with triple-pane glass and a .18 U-value. It is the most efficient window we sell and costs $699 installed for a white double hung.
Is the Harvey Tribute more efficient than the Classic?
No. The Tribute is rated .25 and the Classic .24, so the Classic keeps heat in slightly better. The Tribute costs more because of its contoured, wood-look sash and hidden tilt latches.
Are Harvey windows made in New England?
Harvey Windows + Doors is a New England manufacturer based in Waltham, Massachusetts. We measure, order and install every Harvey window with our own local crew.
Can I mix different Harvey models in one house?
Yes. One sensible approach is Tributes where the street sees them and Classics elsewhere. We will show you both sash styles at the in-home quote so you can judge the match.
Do all four models tilt in for cleaning?
Yes. Every double hung we install has both sashes tilting in, so you can clean the outside glass from indoors.
