Replacement Windows In Wenham
Wenham is known for its historic character: farm land, lakes, woodlands, historic homes, and old stone walls along winding, tree-lined roads. The Window Source NH replaces windows and doors here. We are about 37 minutes and 25.9 miles from our shop in Seabrook. Our own local crew measures, orders and installs every window.
Historic Homes And Rural Roads
Wenham was settled in 1635 and became a town in 1643, the first town set off from Salem. The 17th-century Claflin-Richards house stands at the center of town. A local historical committee bought it in 1921, and a museum grew up around it.
Wenham sent volunteers to King Philip’s War and the French and Indian War. In 1774, the town chose 15 men as minutemen. In 1909, Henry Clay Frick bought the Iron Rail property so his daughter Helen could open a vacation home for mill girls. The town bought the property in the 1970s.
The town shares a school system, library and commuter rail station with Hamilton. Wenham Lake, shared with Beverly, lies within its borders. So does the southern tip of the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, along with several smaller ponds.
Wenham sits about 4 miles inland from Massachusetts Bay. Here the choice of window is less about salt air and more about the house itself, and how it looks from the road.
Keeping The Look Of An Older House
On a historic house, the windows are part of its face. The Harvey Tribute uses contoured, beveled sash and hidden tilt latches for a traditional look. Pair it with colonial grids and it reads as a classic window from the street.
Older homes also tend to have odd sizes and openings that are not quite square. That is why we measure every window ourselves before anything is ordered. If you are unsure about rules for your property, the town’s building department can tell you whether a permit is needed.
