What are Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding is the most commonly installed exterior protection for houses in the United States. It is an affordable plastic set of exterior siding panels for a home. Vinyl siding is used as an aesthetically appealing form of durable weatherproofing. Vinyl siding is meant to imitate wood clapboard in looks, but is more affordable and considered more durable in treacherous climates. Vinyl siding is used as an alternative to aluminum siding or fiber cement siding.
By weight, vinyl siding is approximately 80 percent a PVC resin and 20 percent a combination of other materials that produce; color, opacity, gloss, impact resistance, flexibility, and durability.

Vinyl siding was introduced to the exterior market in the late 1950s as a replacement for aluminum siding. It was first produced by an independently owned manufacturing plant called Crane Plastics in Columbus, Ohio. By the 1970s, the industry dramatically changed its formulation and drastically improved the product’s production speed, impact resistance, and range of aesthetic attributes.
Vinyl siding has continued to grow steadily in popularity largely because of its durability, versatility, and ease of maintenance.
